‘Over The Edge at ONE DAYTONA’ Returns for 3rd Annual Event

Everyday heroes, thrill-seekers and community leaders are invited to once again show their bravery while benefiting children in need at the third annual “Over The Edge At ONE DAYTONA” fundraising event on Nov. 1-2.

Registration is now open at, with multiple ways to get involved including both individual and team fundraising opportunities. The first 140 fundraisers who raise a minimum of $1,000 will earn their spot to rappel down the north-side façade of the 102-foot-high International Motorsports Center, the headquarters of NASCAR, International Speedway Corporation (ISC), Daytona International Speedway and IMSA. Proceeds will benefit efforts by The NASCAR Foundation and Easterseals Northeast Central Florida to improve the quality of life of area children.

“This is my third time rappelling and each year gets better and better,” said The NASCAR Foundation board member Harold Goodemote. “It’s such a unique way to rally friends, family and business associates for a great cause to help children in our local community. A little friendly competition tends to also ensue as everyone competes against one another to raise the most money.”

For a limited time, new registrants can get $15 off the $25 registration fee, which gets applied towards the required minimum $1,000 fundraising goal, by using the discount code #BraveForKidsNow. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available beginning at $5,000.

Incentives will be available throughout the fundraising campaign to encourage rappelers to meet their fundraising goals well before the Oct. 28 deadline. Those incentives include opportunities to record their descent with a GoPro camera, to win Daytona International Speedway tour tickets, race tickets to the Coke Zero Sugar 400 July 4-6 race weekend, a ONE DAYTONA gift pack and more to be announced at a later date.

“Our goal is to encourage community leaders and everyday folks to be brave for courageous kids,” said Bev Johnson, president and CEO of Easterseals Northeast Central Florida. “Many of our local children with special healthcare needs don’t get to choose the challenges they face, so we celebrate those who ‘step up’ and face their own fears in order to show love and support for them.”

This event can be classified as both unique and successful, with 195 rappelers participating through the first two events in 2017 and 2018, raising nearly $350,000 in support of The NASCAR Foundation and Easterseals Northeast Central Florida. Event logistics are coordinated by Over the Edge, a professional rappelling organization that organizes similar events throughout the country.
